Junior Mining Meets Digital Strategy: Three Blind Spots Killing Digitally Visibility

The mining industry has always been a game of resources. But in 2025, the most critical resource isn't gold or lithium, it's attention. And far too many junior miners are losing it before an investor ever gives them a second look.
This was the central theme of Mining Meets Digital, a live panel I recently joined with industry experts, including Umar Rafique, Varun Phull, and Sean Tufford. We broke down how digital strategy is fundamentally changing how investors discover, evaluate, and ultimately trust small-cap mining companies.
Here are the three blind spots we discussed that can make or break a company in today's market.
Junior Mining Meets Digital Strategy
Blind Spot #1: The 'One-and-Done' Press Release
When I started in investor relations back in 2006, a new press release meant getting into the office before the market opened to call brokers and investors all day. If the news was significant, we’d also mail out flyers and place ads in the newspapers.
The way information moves has changed significantly, but in too many boardrooms, the mindset remains the same.
A press release remains vital for the dissemination of technical information, reaching brokers, analysts, and journalists as well as meeting compliance requirements and reaching trading desks. But it's just the first step.
Today, a single announcement must be amplified into multiple digital assets:
A CEO video explaining why the news matters to investors.
A technical deep-dive video for the geologists in the room.
A shareable graphic or carousel highlighting the key takeaways.
A powerful CEO quote to use across social channels.
An FAQ post answering the questions you know investors will ask.
If you just hit "send" and move on, you’ve buried your own news.
Blind Spot #2: Forgetting That Due Diligence is a Hotel Booking
Think about how you book a hotel. You don't just trust the official website. You check Google and their Instagram to get a feel for the vibe, compare it against similar hotels, and read reviews.
Investors do the same thing. Their typical path is: Website → Google Search/AI → LinkedIn/Socials.
If your digital touchpoints are outdated, inconsistent, or uninspired, trust evaporates instantly. A junior mining digital strategy must ensure your website, Google search results, AI results, and social channels all align to build confidence and credibility. The data confirms this:
48% of institutional investors now expect customized content.
If your story isn't clear and credible everywhere they look, you’ll lose the meeting before you even get the chance to book it.
Blind Spot #3: Believing Investors Trust a Logo
A corporate page has its place; it serves as a hub for updates and official information. But it’s usually static.
Investors don't build trust with logos; they build trust with leaders.
Leaders like Richard Branson or Elon Musk prove that personal presence drives credibility. While junior miners operate on a different scale, the principle remains the same: investors back individuals they believe in, not just projects.
In a world being flooded by polished but generic AI content, an authentic human voice is becoming a superpower. The unfiltered perspective from leadership is what will cut through the noise and earn investor confidence.
And with over 65 million decision-makers on LinkedIn, leaders who engage directly will attract attention, followers, and ultimately, capital.
The Bottom Line: Perception is reality

Why This Conversation Matters
The mining sector isn't short on promising projects. It's short on companies that know how to communicate that promise in a way that builds trust and commands attention.
This isn’t a geology problem; it’s a communication problem. If you’re in mining or capital markets, this panel discussion will give you an honest off-the-cuff conversation to turn these challenges into your most significant competitive advantage.
